Chisinau likely to have 100 new buses by late 2020

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/- The working group of the Chisinau Municipal Council presented the findings on identification of technical solution and best financial option to renovate the rolling stock of the public transport system in Chisinau. Thus, the working group will recommend to the Chisinau Municipal Council the purchase until 31 December of one hundred new buses and 18 used articulated trolleybuses from Riga city hall.

The plan worked out by the working group provides for the renovation of the rolling stock and the purchase in the next four years of 250 buses with a capacity of 107 seats, of which 100 are to be purchased and remaining 150 are to be assembled on site, the purchase of 18 used articulated trolleybus units from Riga city hall and assembly of 70 traditional trolleybuses with a capacity of 115 seats and assembly of 20 articulated trolleybuses.

By implementing the plan, by late 2021, the minibus routes in Chisinau will be fully eliminated and by late 2023 all public transport units in Chisinau will be of a new type and suburbs will be provided by 148 units of buses, of which 125 new type.

A final decision in this regard will be taken by the Chisinau Municipal Council at the 19 May meeting.
