Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state, declared as a result of the epidemiological evolution of the new-type coronavirus COVID-19, expires in Moldova on 15 May; yet, this does not mean that the risk is over. Therefore, starting from 15 May, the Extraordinary Public Health Commission will begin working and, most likely, emergency state or Red Code in the health sector will be announced. President Igor Dodon made statements to this effect at the end of a today’s meeting of the Supreme Security Council.
According to the president, starting from 15 May, practically all powers as regards the imposing or lift of restrictions, isolation, etc., needed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, switch from the National Commission for Emergency Situations to the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission.
„I want to ask you to be quite vigilant and attentive. Although we are positioned better than other countries and we have managed the situation well so far, it is important how we will control the state of things from now on,’’ Igor Dodon said.
Till present, 5,406 cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Moldova, of which 703 – on the left bank of Dniester. There are 2,228 people treated of COVID-19.
The members of the Supreme Security Council today held a meeting, during which they considered four subjects of topical importance: one-billion-dollar theft, situation at the Chisinau International Airport, contraband and the situation triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
