40 percent of COVID-19-infected patients treated

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/- 40 percent of COVID-19-infected patients have already been treated. So far, 5,553 people infected with the new coronavirus have been registered in Moldova, of which 1,227 are employed in healthcare. The information was presented today by ANSP director Nicolae Furtună.
Last week, a higher number of cases of COVID-19 infection was registered, due to testing in hospitals and massive testing in two boarding schools in Soroca and Bender. He said that the number of registered cases largely depends on the population's compliance with doctors' recommendations. He reiterated that people suffering from chronic diseases should stay at home and others must respect social distance and other recommendations.
He noted "the number of people infected with COVID-19 will increase at the end of the week, as the rate of infection increases from day to day."
According to MSMPS data, so far due to complications caused by the new coronavirus in the country, 194 citizens have died.
Today the state of emergency set on 17 March ends. The authorities announced that tomorrow, the Extraordinary National Commission for Public Health will establish state of emergency in health until 30 June, and the sanitary-epidemiological rules will remain in force.
