More politically repressed Moldovans to receive compensations

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - The government of Moldova will allocate over 1.5 million lei for the return of the value of assets, through payment of compensations, to the people subjected to political repressions. A decision to this effect was published in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today.

Under the decision, the money will be earmarked to local public administration authorities from means provided for in the 2020 state budget.

The aforementioned sum will be distributed according to applications to the district councils of Briceni, Calarasi, Criuleni, Edinet, Glodeni, Ocnita, Rascani, Straseni and Sangerei.

Starting from 1 January 2020, the rehabilitated victims of the political repressions from the period 1917-1990 have been monthly receiving allocations worth 500 lei, no matter whether they benefit or not from pensions or social allocations.

According to statistics data by the National Social Insurances House, on 1 December 2019, 7,343 people of the rehabilitated victims of political repressions on the period 1917-1990 were in the records of the public social insurances system.
