Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - About 130 young people from Moldova will get grants on behalf of the state to start their own businesses. The financing will be possible due to the Organization for the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM), which today made public the results of the first contest of grants within the programme titled, START FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: a sustainable business at home.
The beneficiaries’ applications were received in January-February and assessed online on the period of the emergency state.
According to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI), the overall sum of the non-refundable financing is of 20.54 million lei. The implementation of young people’s investment projects will contribute to the creation of 479 jobs, of which 330 jobs for young people and 267 - for women. The businesses backed through this programme will help attract about 38.78 million lei investments into the economy.
The competent minister, Sergiu Railean, stressed that the keeping of young people in Moldova, as well as their motivation for carrying out entrepreneurial activities, preponderantly in rural areas, had boosted the initiation of this programme with financing from the state budget. ‘’The main problem for the young entrepreneurs remains the access to easily accessible financial resources. Through this programme, we were set to integrate young people from Moldova in the economic circulation and facilitate the starting and developing of businesses,’’ the official said.
„This programme provides to young people chance for a better future, gives them confidence in their own forces and completes their information void in the entrepreneurial sector. We welcome the fact that the programme enjoys increased interest among the young generation and we are sure that the future of the businesses belongs to young people,’’ the ODIMM director general, Iulia Costin, said.
Sixty six businesses out of 128 investment projects accepted are created/managed by women and 11 – by disadvantaged young people. More than 75 per cent of the businesses created by young people will carry out their work in rural zones. The most active settlements in this project were the Chisinau city, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, Sangerei, Rascani, Soroca, Orhei, Ungheni, Causeni and Stefan Voda.
„Following the analysis of business projects of young people participating in the Programme, it is worth being noted the ingeniousness and innovation of the business ideas submitted, such as: production of edible glasses, activities of processing and collection of waste; manufacturing of wooden wash-hand basins, manufacturing of personalized textile toys, growing of micro-plants, growing of African salmon, fabrication of wooden personalized educative toys, production of lego bricks, designing and printing of 3D articles, production of marble decorative gravel, creation of the equestrian tourism centre, etc.,’’MEI sources said.
