Emergency state in health sector declared in Moldova as of 16 May

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - Emergency state in the health sector, which will last till 30 June, is declared in Moldova starting from 16 May. ‘’Thus, some of the restrictions expire at 24:00, as the emergency state ends, while a string of restrictions remains in force beginning with 16 May too,’’ the head of the National Commission for Emergency Situation, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said today evening.
„The emergency state, which lasted 60 days and was the first one in Moldova’s history, is lifted today. Unfortunately, the pandemic is not over with its expiration or the further powers necessary for protecting the life and health of the citizens go to the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission, which held its first meeting today, starting from 16 May,’’ said the prime minister, who is the head of this structure, under the legislation.
According to the Commission’s decision, the following things remain compulsory in Moldova: preserving the social distance of one metre; bearing of the protection mask in closed spaces, commercial spaces, in the public transport and where it is impossible to maintain the social distance; gathering in groups of no more than three people; avoiding agglomerations; observance of the sanitary norms of hygienization and disinfection, etc.
Also, the markets from the Chisinau and Balti municipalities, the playgrounds and the sports fields remain closed till 31 May. In week-ends, the public passenger transport will be ceased in the Chisinau and Balti cities.
Neither the education institutions of any level will be opened till 30 June.
At the same time, the gradual resumption of the work of the medical institutions and services, including the stomatological ones, as well as of personal care enterprises, such as hairdresser’s, will be allowed starting from 16 May.
Attending the news briefing, Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu said that the regime of emergency state in the health sector is announced till 30 June; yet, it can be revised depending in the evolution of the epidemiological situation, triggered by COVID-19.
As many as 1,344 biological samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 192 ones proved to be positive. Thus, there are 5,745 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all.
