Joint working group of city hall, interior ministry to take steps to ban illegal rallies

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/- Representatives of the Chisinau city hall and the Ministry of Internal Affairs will consider joint measures needed to combat illegal rallies on the streets of Chisinau.
Mayor Ion Ceban said today at the online meeting of municipal services that the working group of the city hall and the Interior Ministry will meet to identify measures to combat the night rallies on the streets of the municipality. "The city is not a place for rallies. I call on the working group to identify firm measures to combat these reckless competitions,” he said.
Ceban asked deputy mayors Victor Chironda and Ilie Ceban to work out within ten days the actions of the municipality for this purpose, such as: elaboration of a map on which the illegal rallies take place, installation of speed limiters, installation of more video cameras for intelligent monitoring of road traffic.
Representative of the Ministry of Interior Lilian Luca said that the culprit of the accident on the night of 16 May is held and the procedural documentation is taking place now.
Two people died and several were injured in an accident occurred at the intersection of Ismail Street and Stefan cel Mare Boulevard in Chisinau on the night of 16 May. The accident, which involved several cars, was caused due to excessive speed and non-compliance with traffic rules.
