Most restrictions likely to be lifted by 1 June

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/- Most restrictions imposed by the authorities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic will be lifted from 1 June to avoid worsening the effects of the economic crisis. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made the statement at the end of the meeting with President Igor Dodon and Speaker Zinaida Greceanii.
The markets in Chisinau and Balti could be opened by 31 May.
The premier said that today the cabinet will hold a meeting to consider a lot of measures to support the people and economy in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. They include extending the term of allowance worth 16 thousand lei to employees of some state institutions who get sick of the new coronavirus even after the end of the state of emergency, further granting the increased basic salary for doctors etc. Also, some regulations on the work regime will be operated. The government is also going to propose the increase of some facilities for the economic agents.
He noted that the authorities will go to court today to launch insolvency proceedings of Avia Invest company, which manages Chisinau International Airport, after debts of about 60 million lei to the state budget. Chicu said that the airport manager has not paid MDL of debt, even if it was previously rescheduled.
