Review of top court ruling declared inadmissible

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/- The Constitutional Court / CC / declared inadmissible the request of judge Vladimir Țurcan on review of the decisions of 23 April 2020 on his dismissal as President of the CC and the decision on the election of Domnica Manole to the position.

The constitutional judges pointed out that the position of President of the Constitutional Court "is not a right guaranteed by the status of constitutional judge", it is a "mandate" issued by the plenum of the Constitutional Court that can be revoked by the same procedure in which it was granted.

The CC found that Vladimir Turcan behaved "in a way that does not exclude outside influence" and did not ensure the secrecy of votes.

The Court noted that in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Constitutional Court, decisions are final and are not subject to any appeal.

On 23 April the judges of the Constitutional Court dismissed Țurcan as President and elected Domnica Manole to the position.
