Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - The present stage of the implementation of the Association Agreement and the prospects for the Moldova-EU cooperation were on the agenda of the discussions, in format of videoconference, between Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea and European MP Dragos Tudorache, in his capacity of European Parliament’s rapporteur for Moldova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.
The Moldovan diplomacy head assured the interlocutor that the European integration process was a major priority for the current government, noting that EU remained the principal political and commercial partner of Moldova. Minister Oleg Tulea informed that, on the next period, the Moldovan authorities would focus both on the priority reforms, such as the justice reform and fighting corruption and the overcoming of the consequences of the epidemiological crisis. ‘’We are firmly committed to further develop a dynamic cooperation with EU and make progress in terms of sectoral reforms. We are in active dialogue with the European institutions,’’ the Moldovan official noted.
In the context, the foreign affairs minister highly appreciated the European Parliament’s constant support for Moldova. Tulea welcomed the European legislative body’s quick decision on the emergency macro-financial assistance for the neighbourhood states for diminishing the impact of the economic recession triggered by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Minister Oleg Tulea voiced hope that, once the epidemiological situation improves, the Moldova-EU contacts would return to the usual intensity within the well-known dialogue platforms, including the ones at parliamentary level.
