As many as 213 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 1,502 biological samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 213 ones proved to be positive. Thus, there are 6,553 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all, of which 3,372 are active. The state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Constantin Rimis, made statements to this effect today.

According to Rimis, all cases are with local transmission. Most cases were recorded in Chisinau – 77, left bank of Dniester -24, Straseni – 16, Ceadar-Lunga –11. ‘’Today, we have 445 people treated, with their total number standing at 2,953. Also, 22 patients are subjected to mechanical ventilation and 244 are in serious condition. Seven deaths triggered by COVID-19 have been registered in the last 24 hours, with 228 dead people in all,’’ Rimis noted.

In the end of the news briefing, the state secretary urged the residents to further observe all cautious measures and specialists’ recommendations. Constantin Rimis noted that, if the population does not comply, the situation would worsen.
