Moldovan parliament ratifies financing agreement with International Development Association on implementing Emergency COVID-19 Response Project

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today ratified the agreement on financing between Moldova and the International Development Association (IDA) on the implementation of the Emergency COVID-19 Response Project, signed on 28 April 2020.

The project’s value is of almost 53 million euros and its goals regard the prevention, detection and response to the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in Moldova.

The first part of the project, worth 52.3 million euros, consists in the providing of immediate support for preventing the outbreak of COVID-19 or to limit the local transmission by enforcing quarantine strategies. The measures included deal with the improvement of cases’ confirmation, strengthening the health system to ensure the care of COVID-19 patients in critical phase and minimize the risk of infection of patients and medical employees, providing of social and financial support to households, raising the awareness of decision-makers and public.
The second part, amounting to 0.6 million euros, consist in the carrying out project management activities.

The project will last till 30 April 2022.
