Moldovan parliament makes amendments to legislation on Superior Council of Magistracy

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted, in two readings, a draft law which sees that, on the period of the vacancy of offices of members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), they might be filled by alternate members.
According to the draft’s authors, the amendments to the legislation were necessary, as at present, CSM works in a reduced composition. The vacant office of CSM member among judges was to be filled following elections during the general assembly of judges. Yet, given that emergency state was established all over Moldova on 17 March 2020, this assembly was not held.
