Moldovan parliament cancels school-leaving examinations

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - The national school-leaving examinations in the general education, 2020 session, have been cancelled. The MPs voted a draft law to this effect proposed by the cabinet today.
Thus, certificates of high school education will be issued to the pupils who finish the ninth form and school-leaving diplomas will be issued to the pupils who finish the 12th form, with annual average marks for the school disciplines and the general average mark higher or equal to 5, with the calculation of the marks for the examinations based on the marks got during the 7-9th forms or during the lyceum school-years. The marks for the exams represents the arithmetical average of the annual average marks got by pupils during the 7-9th forms, respectively, the 10-12th in the concerned disciplines.
The pupils of the 9th , 12th forms, who fail to finish this school year with annual average marks in the school disciplines and the general average mark higher or equal to 5, as well as the pupils who did not pass all exams in the previous academic years will be able to take the exam at the next session, depending on the evolution of the pandemic situation and the conditions established by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry.
The law on the cancellation of the national school-leaving examinations in the general education, 2020 examination session, will enter into force with its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal.
