Working group on customs issues holds first meeting after beginning of pandemic in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - The working group on customs issues today held a meeting at the level of experts between Chisinau and Tiraspol. This is the first post-pandemic working group, organized in new videoconference format, at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau and Tiraspol, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The subjects discussed at the meeting are focused on the import and customs clearance of goods and services, goods banned to be introduced in Moldova, conditions for the enforcement of TIR rules as to the transit through the Transnistrian region. The meeting’s agenda also included the cancellation of road taxes for the owners of transport means and citizens of Moldova who cross the Transnistrian region, movement of private people who import goods and have licence of entrepreneur, etc. At the same time, the Transnistrian side tackled the draft protocol decision elaborated on the customs sector.
Chisinau’s representatives insisted on the settlement of the problems dealing with the TIR card, observing the conditions as to the prohibited goods and excluding the imposing of road taxes for those who drive transport means registered in Moldova or those who have Moldova’s citizenship.
The sides have different subjects of discussion on the customs dimension and as a result, they agreed on taking a break till the next meeting, in order to think about the subjects brought for discussion by each participant in the dialogue.
