Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The working group for human rights at the level of experts between Chisinau and Tiraspol held its first meeting after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic on 22 May afternoon. The sides resumed the consideration of subjects of an earlier agreed upon agenda; a special subject was the protection of the HIV positive people against actions of discrimination/segregation and mechanisms for their re-socialization, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Chisinau expressed concern about the fact that the people from the risk group from the Transnistrian region cannot benefit from the entire spectrum of treatments for preventing the falling sick with the HIV virus.
Another important aspect, promoted by Chisinau’s representatives, refers to the inclusion in the agenda of the working group of other subjects which have become up-to-date during the emergency state period in Moldova.
Ensuring the right to free movement, including the need to lift the restrictions of movement around settlements, physicians’ access to the place of work and back to home, farmers’ access to their lands and the movement of employees of the Latin-script schools from the left bank of Dniester was insistently evoked by Chisinau.
Also, Chisinau’s delegation insisted on the cancelation of movement restrictions, which hinder the ensuring of the right to health of all Moldova’s citizens, including those who live in the Transnistrian region, but belong to medical institutions from the right bank of Dniester for more years. These restrictions infringe also the right of the insured citizens to medical assistance provided, in the same volume as to the citizens from the right bank of Dniester, as well as the rights of people with chronic diseases who need continuous supervision at the family doctor and prescription of treatment; those who benefit from compensated medicines, etc.
At the discussions, the Moldovan delegation stressed that, in the first four months of 2020, medication worth 6.5 million euros had been imported into the Transnistrian region. This fact denies any speculation of the Transnistrian region as to the creation of artificial difficulties.
Chisinau’s experts asked for additional and sure information about the situation as to the de-blocking of the free movement for all people and Tiraspol was not flexible to give clear-cut answers on the subject.
We remind that the Transnistrian side continues to impose restrictions of movement in the region and according to data by de facto structures, this regime is extended till 1 June.
Chisinau will further insist on the observance of human rights and de-blocking the limiting of the free movement.
