Almost all restrictions likely to be lifted by 1 June

Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/- By 1 June almost all restrictions could be lifted. President Igor Dodon made the statement today at the end of a working meeting with Prime Minister Ion Chicu.
Dodon said that the epidemiological situation in the country is positive. Last week, the number of cases of COVID-19 infections decreased by 8.9%, the number of cures increased by 2.9% and the number of deaths decreased by 7%. Also, if in early April the contagion rate was 3.17, last week this coefficient was 0.89.
The president noted he will propose to the National Commission for Public Health that after 1 June the markets in Chisinau and Balti resume their activity, to reopen the gyms and premises in the HORECA sector. It is also proposed to resume international passenger transport.
After 1 June only restrictions on the work of schools and kindergartens and meetings in groups of more than 50 people should be maintained.
So far, 7,093 cases of COVID-19 infection have been registered in the Republic of Moldova, of which 880 in Transnistria.
