Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the law amending Article III of Law No193/2019 were published in the Official Journal of Moldova and entered into force.

Under the amendments to the legislation, during the vacancy of the positions of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) among judges, they could be filled by alternates, until the basic members are elected.

The need for amendments to legislation is that at present the CSM is operating in a small composition. The CSM member vacancy among judges was to be filled following the elections to the General Assembly of Judges. As the state of emergency was set up throughout the country on 17 March 2020, the General Assembly of Judges did not take place.
