Travel agencies got additional time to meet commitments to customers

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/- The Law on some measures to support passengers and economic agents in the tourism industry to mitigate the negative effects caused by the epidemiological situation COVID-19 was published in the Official Journal of Moldova and entered into force.

The new amendments see extension from 14 to 540 days of the deadline for refunding payments for travel packages, in case of termination of contracts before the trip. Thus, the repayment deadline cannot exceed 31 December 2021 for packages booked and paid in October 2019 – 17 March 2020.

Statistics show that in October 2019 - March 2020, local travel companies had revenues for tourist packages paid partially or fully for about 25 thousand customers, worth almost five million euros. At the same time, the external transfers made by travel companies over the same period for the offers exceeded 6 million euros.
