Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/- The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) has a new member after alternate member among judges Anatol Pahopol was approved today to the position. At the same meeting, he took over interim president of CSM as he is the oldest member of the institution.
This is due to the entry into force of the amendments to the Law on CSM, stipulating that “until the election of new members of the Superior Council of Magistracy from among judges by the General Assembly of Judges, the alternate members previously elected will fill vacancies of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy”.
Also, CSM members approved Vitalie Stratan's candidacy for the position of member of the Council of the National Institute of Justice.
The position of CSM member was to be filled following the elections to the General Assembly of Judges, which did not take place because of the state of emergency.
Anatol Pahopol has been working in the judiciary since 1995. In 2005, he was appointed as magistrate by transfer to the Chisinau Court of Appeal, serving so far.
