Moldovan PM has meeting with Russian Ambassador

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The officials exchanged information and opinions on the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Moldova and Russia, as well as in the region, forecasts for the next period and the effects of the restrictions imposed in the process of management of the epidemic on both states’ economies.
Ion Chicu thanked the Russian government for the support provided in form of medical equipment and tests, for the carriage of a large number of Moldovans from Russia, as well as for the charter flight offered, in order to carry consignments of medical products from China.
The sides discussed subjects on the agenda of the Moldovan-Russian joint inter-governmental commission and considered the implementation of the decisions adopted. The global and regional economic tendencies show the need to identify ways of stimulating the economic activity and of maintaining the consumption.
The PM referred to the cabinet’s intention to invest in infrastructure, in order to create jobs and enhance Moldova’s attractiveness as investment destination for industrial companies.
Moldova and Russia have signed over 157 bilateral documents. In the first four months of 2019, the trade exchanges between Moldova and Russia amounted to about 256.26 million dollars, of which the export of Moldovan goods stood at about 80.68 million dollars.
