Moldovan president visits Giurgiulesti Free International Port

Chisinau, 27 May /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon visited on Tuesday Giurgiulesti Free International Port - a unique transport node in Moldova, located at the intersection of the borders of the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine, located on the Lower Danube and having the status of river port due to the Convention on Danube regime, the presidential press service has reported.
The Giurgiulesti port includes an oil, grain and passenger terminal, a railway junction linking Moldova and neighboring countries. The head of state told the company's administration that in 2005-2009, as Deputy Minister of Economy, then Minister and First Deputy Prime Minister, he monitored the construction of port facilities and upgrading the infrastructure in the area.
The sides discussed the current situation at Giurgiulesti Port. Dodon assured the company management that the authorities will provide all necessary support from the state for the development of the port, which plays an important role in the development of Moldova's foreign trade.
