Five Moldovan education institutions in agro-industrial sector to benefit from investments

Chisinau, 27 May /MOLDPRES/ - Five investment projects presented by education and research institutions in the agro-industrial sector today were approved at a meeting of the working group on assessing the investment projects in the horticultural sector, held by the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM).
The projects were presented in four education institutions from Moldova. The projects imply investments worth six million euros for the renovation and arrangement of institutions, as well as for their endowment with agricultural technology and foundation of teaching groups.
„Laboratories and capacities of practical training of pupils will be renovated and endowed with last generation equipment, in order to align the education institutions to European Union’s quality standards. Horticultural equipment and technology will be bought, in order to cover the entire curricular area of teaching adjacent disciplines. The construction of rooms for the cool preservation and processing of fruits and berries is planned,’’ MADRM sources said.
The direct beneficiaries of investments will be more than 3,000 pupils from then four education institutions, as well as the horticulturists from Moldova will be able to employ qualified staff. The laboratories’ equipment will catalyze also the work of continuous training at these institutions.
The investments are carried out within the Moldova’s Orchard project, initiated by the Moldovan government and backed by the European Investment Bank. Within the project, about 12 million euros was planned for investments in the rehabilitation and endowment of education and research institutions.
The Moldova’s Orchard project already implements two investment projects at the Moldovan Technical University and the State Agrarian University of Moldova. The value of investments amounts to about four million euros. Within the Moldova’s Orchard project, the Moldovan government invests 120 million euros in the rehabilitation of the horticultural sector. The money represents a loan provided by the European Investment Bank. The project is implemented by the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry.
