Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic has said that the COVID-19 pandemic changed Chisinau’s communication with Tiraspol, as well as the outline of the subjects on the reintegration process.
The subject on Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue, in the context of the COVID-19 crisis, was discussed within the EU Debates Café – discussions organized by the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE).
According to the official, the self-isolation of the Transnistrian region led to the appearance of measures of strengthening the separatism. ‘’Only the people with residence and the diplomatic corps can enter the Transnistrian region. We have several refusals dealing with the organization of meetings of the working groups in the health sector,’’ Cristina Lesnic said.
The director of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives and Policies, Andrei Popov, said that the breakaway region’s officials tried to take advantage of the crisis, in order promote their political interests. ‘’It is about the establishment of over 20 mobile control points in the Security Zone. This is an illegal action, which has not received a more resolute reaction on behalf of the foreign partners. The meetings of the Joint Control Commission were suspended,’’ Popov noted.
For his part, the director of the Promo-LEX association, Ion Manole, said that Chisinau had had a constructive approach, to which Tiraspol responded with an aggressive behavior.
