Moldovan economics and infrastructure ministry launches roadmap for economy's digitalization

Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI), in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, has worked out a Roadmap for the economy’s digitalization. The roadmap’s goal is to identify new reserves of enhancing the entrepreneurial activity in Moldova, as well as to facilitate the distance interaction between the government, business community and consumers.     

The first project of this document today was unveiled at an online meeting of MEI representatives, experts of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister, business associations, partners of international projects from the information technologies’ sector.   

According to the competent minister, Sergiu Railean, the pandemic crisis, as well as the achievement of ceilings in the traditional approaching of the economic development created serious premises for the reinvention of instruments of simulating the economic growth. In the context, the minister thanked the team and project partners for involvement, asking for their contribution for the continuous development of the digital agenda.     

„The economy’s digitization is the principal resource in minimizing the effects of such a crisis, with the development of the electronic commerce, both domestic and of the online exports. The last months proved that the companies prepared on the digital platforms, present online, most easily bore the shock and the smallest economic impact was felt on the dimension of the electronic communication and IT. Through digitization, we can eliminate corruption, optimize processes and become attractive for the beneficiaries of our services and products,’’ Sergiu Railean said.     

The document is to be publicly consulted for commentaries and proposals. The actions included are aimed at stimulating the digital interaction Government-Business (G2B), Business-Business (B2B), Business-Consumer (B2C), through facilitating the distance interaction and promotion of digital services for the business environment, simplifying the customs procedures at the online export and stimulating the mail and courier services, as well as promotion and attraction in Moldova of national and international platforms of electronic commerce through the permanent dialogue with the development partners.   

The participants appreciated the ministry’s initiative and gave assurances that they would provide every needed support in the implementation of the digitalization agenda.
