Participation in illegal competitions on public roads to be sanctioned under criminal law in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - Drivers’ participation in unauthorized competitions, contests and trainings on public roads will be sanctioned under the criminal code. The MPs adopted a draft law to this effect today.
As a result of the amendments made to the legislation, Moldova’s Criminal Code will completed with a new article, which will regard the carrying out of illegal races. Thus, driver’s participation in unauthorized competitions, contests and trainings on public roads will be punished with fine worth up to 32,500 lei or non-remunerated work for the benefit of the community from 180 to 240 hours with (or without) deprivation of the right to drive a transport means for a period of up to 2 years.
At the same time, the organization of unauthorized competitions, contests and trainings on public roads will be punished with fine amounting from 67,500 to 75,000 lei or non-remunerated labour for community’s benefit from 180 to 240 hours or imprisonment from 1 to 2 years.
