Moldovan president has new meeting with OSCE special representative for Transnistrian settlement process

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a new meeting with the special representative if the OSCE chairman-in-office for the Transnistrian settlement process, Austrian diplomat Thomas Mayr-Harting. The meeting was held following negotiations held between Mayr-Harting and the Transnistrian administration, as well as the heads of the diplomatic missions from the countries participating in the 5+2 format, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state thanked for the efforts undertaken by Albania, in its capacity of OSCE Chairman, in relation with Moldova, thus turning to good account the experience of Thomas Mayr-Harting, who knows the subjects of the Transnistrian settlement well.
The officials exchanged opinions in detail on a wide spectrum of topical issues on the state of things concerning the Transnistrian settlement. Special attention was paid to such topics as the free movement of citizens, telecommunications, work of the banking system, as well as prospects for the implementation of new initiatives, which would lead to strengthening the trust.
In the end, the president expressed the Moldovan side’s interest in continuing the open dialogue at various levels, in order to achieve substantial progress in the Transnistrian settlement.
