Sports complex constructed in south Moldova city

Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today went to the site of construction of a sports complex in the south Moldova Comrat municipality. The complex is placed on area of four hectares and includes a football stadium with a capacity of 5,000 places, a covered hall for diverse sports events and other facilities.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the complex is built with the support of Turkey’s government, which provided about 10 million euros. As much as 8.6 million lei was allocated from the state budget for connecting the sports complex to water and sewerage supply. The present stadium from Comrat has about 60 years and does not meet the current norms.
The PM thanked the Turkish government for the assistance provided to Moldova in the development of the social infrastructure.
The authorities from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia plan that national-level and international trainings and competitions are held at the sports complex. They consider that the launch of the complex will serve as an impetus for the development of sports in the region and an urge to follow a sound lifestyle. The stadium will meet the standards of the FIFA International Football Federation.
