Rains work havoc in more districts of Moldova

Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ - The last days’ rains have destroyed more gardens and flooded households from the districts of Edinet, Leova, Hancesti, Rezina, washed away more road segments in the Ialoveni district.
The leadership of the Interior Ministry’s General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) today held a meeting, in the context of the monitoring of the situation in the country, in the wake of the torrential rains registered on the days off, as well as of assessing the increase in the level of water of the Prut and Dniester rivers. In this respect, the heads of the IGSU territorial subdivisions reported about the state of things in the territory.
According to data unveiled at the meeting, the rains worked havoc in more settlements. In the Blesteni village, northern Edinet district, rescuers intervened to pump water from two households and water basins’ dams from the villages of Branzeni and Badragii Vechi of the same district were deteriorated; as a result, water flowed down.
The intervention of IGSU employees was needed also in the Buteni village, central Hancesti district, where precipitation hit more crops and water entered five households, hitting cellars and yards. Rescuers intervened on the spot, who pumped water at night. The precipitation caused damages in the settlements, Tochile Raducani, Leova district.
Rescuers intervened also in Rezina, where they evacuated water from two households. The last-week rain deteriorated more local roads’ segments in the villages of Costesti and Horesti, central Ialoveni district. The territorial commissions for emergency situations work on the sport, in order to assess the damages.
Also, in the context of the warning by the State Hydrometeorological Service, launched last week, concerning the increase in the water level in the Prut and Dniester rivers, the IGSU leadership instructed, in continuation, a strict monitoring on all segments of measurement on both rivers.
