Moldovan speaker conveys message on 30th anniversary of adoption of Declaration of Sovereignty

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today sent a message on the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Sovereignty, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The message says:

"On 23 June 1990, MPs of the Supreme Soviet of the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic adopted the Declaration of Sovereignty. Since then, each year on this day the Sovereignty Day of the Republic of Moldova is celebrated.

By adopting this document, our country became a sovereign state, a natural condition for the existence of the Moldovan statehood.

The Declaration of Sovereignty was the foundation of elaboration of the Constitution and was a first step to setting up democratic power.

I convey sincere wishes to all citizens of Moldova on the Sovereignty Day and I urge them to preserve, promote and transmit to the new generations our millennial values and traditions ”.
