Moldovan deputy premier has meeting with head of EUBAM mission

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic today had an official meeting with Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission for Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) Slawomir Pichor, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.  

The main subjects for discussion were focused on the present situation following the reopening of the Pervomaysk-Kuchurgan border crossing point, expiration of more normative acts on the immediately next period, flow of passengers and goods, challenges and difficulties in the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue during the COVID-19 pandemic, in the context of the unilateral restrictions imposed by the Transnistrian side.

The deputy PM for reintegration informed about the Moldovan side’s openness for further ensuring cooperation with EUBAM, in order to bring the sectoral regulations from the Transnistrian region to the legal framework, so that premises for the creation of single economic spaces appear in this way.

At the same time, Lesnic expressed concerns about the continuation of self-isolation of the Transnistrian region, which proves new realities, which are to be taken into account in the process of negotiations.  

Another subject of the discussions was the functionality of the mechanism of registration of vehicles. At the same time, Cristina Lesnic noted that the registration point from Tiraspol had been reopened on 3 June and the Rabnita-based one – today.   

The officials tackled also aspects on the integrated border management, role and assistance provided by the EUBAM Mission on this dimension.
