Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ - An MP of the first Moldova’s parliament, Nicolae Misail, believes that the adoption of the Declaration on Sovereignty was one of the greatest achievements and aspirations of the Great National Assembly.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the former lawmaker said that the participants in the Great National Assemblies from 1989 had always been demanding sovereignty, independence, abolition of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact.
”I am in a way annoyed by those who say that this was a mere parade of sovereignties. The Baltic Countries, Georgia, Russia, etc. declared their Sovereignty before us. The adoption of the Declaration on Sovereignty was a victory of those who fought for language, alphabet, for our independence and for our Romanian identity,’’ Nicolae Misail said.
The Declaration on Sovereignty was adopted on 23 June 1990.
