Moldova needs quality press to ensure path to democracy - EANA secretary general says

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/- Secretary General of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) Alexandru Giboi, former Director General of the Romanian News Agency AGERPRES, sent a congratulatory message to MOLDPRES Agency on the 30th anniversary of foundation.
The message says that MOLDPRES was created with the freedom of the Republic of Moldova, 30 years ago.
"It is a symbolic event, because the freedom of the press guarantees a quality press, which, in turn, guarantees the functioning of a democratic society. The Republic of Moldova needs a quality press to ensure its path on the path to democracy.
Moldpres has its well-defined role in this gear, and the agency’s operation without interference or pressure, apart from the normal pressure of the results and the quality of journalism can guarantee a better future for the press in Moldova.
Moldpres was founded by the Decision of the Supreme Soviet of RSSM of June 20, 1990 following the liquidation of ATEM agency. During this time, it has consistently acquired the status of the official "voice" of the state, which transmits written information, photos and videos about current political, economic, social, cultural, scientific, local and world sports to public and private institutions, the written and audiovisual media, diplomatic missions, international media institutions.
