Increasing level of Dniester river threatens Vadul lui Voda settlement of Moldova

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Dniester river’s water level is increasing. The Vadul lui Voda settlement from the Chisinau municipality takes measures against floods.
The acting director of the municipal enterprise, Apa Canal Chisinau, Anatolii Lichii, at a today’s extraordinary meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) said that the Dniester river was at the level of 15 metres and would continue increasing. ‘’The protection dams are endangered at a water level exceeding 19 metres,’’ Lichii noted.
At the same time, a press release by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) reads that, today afternoon, IGSU employees had started works of setting a metal protection dam on a distance of 1 km, which will protect the tourist zone of the Vadul lui Voda town, following the high flood expected on Dniester.
