Poland provides new consignment of humantarian assistance to Moldova

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/ - Poland has provided a new consignment of humanitarian assistance worth 120,000 euros to Moldova in the fight against COVID-19.  

Those more than 30,000 masks, 4,800 screens and 22,000 litres of antiseptic, loaded in five special vehicles, arrived in Chisinau today. In the Moldovan capital, they were met by more officials, among whom Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Peter Michalko, Moldova’s Health Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister.

According to the officials, the consignment of humanitarian aid will be distributed to more medical institutions of Moldova and co-organizers of the convoy arrived in the country are the State Fire Service of Poland, as well as several Polish state enterprises, with EU’s financial support.  

“This is not the first batch on behalf of Poland. We express gratitude for this solidarity. I want to offer sincere thanks also to the European Union, which is a basic partner of Moldova,’’ Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu said at the reception event.   

Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Peter Michalko referred to the assistance provided too. ‘’Solidarity is one of the principles on which EU is based. We are by the side of the people from Moldova in this pandemic as well,’’ the official said.  

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Bartłomiej Zdaniuk said that this convoy was a part of a string of assistance sent by the government of Poland to all the six Eastern Partnership countries.   

Poland has earlier donated medication and consumables to Moldova in the fight against COVID-19.
