Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/- Today Speaker Zinaida Greceanii conveyed a message on national day of folk costumes, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The message says:
"The national day of folk costumes is a holiday set up by parliament in 2015 and which we mark annually on the last Sunday of June.
Costumes with customs and traditions is part of our national history. Traditional costumes impress us, especially with skill of craftsmen to decorate fabrics, to embroider or weave them in many forms, including cross, ear, grape, elements that define us as a nation.
Folk costume is very important for a nation, it is a characteristic of the way of being of the country's inhabitants.
Nowadays, there is a beautiful trend of revival of the traditional costume. It is a tradition that must be preserved, continued and passed on to future generations.
It is our duty to preserve our ancestral past, customs and traditions. I urge the entire Moldovan people to respect and preserve these beautiful traditions ”.
