Moldova's police to be reorganized

Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament’s commission for national security, defence and public order, at a today’s meeting, considered a report on a draft on the amendment of the law on the activity of the Police and the status of the policeman.
The draft stipulates the organization of the Police in several regional departments, with status of legal personality, of territorial competence, in accordance with the administration and territorial division, subordinated to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP).
The concerned subdivisions are to be placed and carry out their work on the territory of one or more administrative and territorial units, based on the regulations on the organization and work, approved by the IGP head.
At the same time, the regional departments will have subordinated police inspectorates, sections and services, depending on the territory’s area, number of residents and importance of the economic and social objects.
The amendments due to be put to vote are aimed at improving the normative framework and fulfilling the goals of the police strategic development for 2016-2020.
