Moldovan parliament speaker lays flowers at monument to Ruler Stephen the Great

Chisinau, 2 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, along with President Igor Dodon, today morning laid flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephen the Great and Holy in the centre of Moldova’s capital, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The solemn ceremony was occasioned by the commemoration of the 516 years since the passing away of the great Ruler. More officials and representatives of the civil society participated in the event.
Stephen the Great was Ruler of Moldavia during 47 years, between 1457 and 1504. He was one of the most remarkable personalities of the Moldovan state’s history. Stephen the Great was a gifted diplomat and military and was canonized with the name of Stephen the Great and Holy by the Romanian Orthodox Church for the contribution brought to the promotion the Christian and Orthodox values.
