Resident physicians, pharmacists involved in fight against COVID-19 to be able to benefit from state scholarships

Chisinau, 3 July /MOLDPRES/ - The resident physicians and pharmacists, students and pupils admitted to higher medical pharmaceutical education institutions, post-secondary vocational education and non-tertiary post-secondary education institutions, who during 2020 will carry out a probationary stage at medical and sanitary institutions involved in the control and combating of the COVID-19 infection, will be able to benefit from probation scholarships provided by the state for the 2020-2021 academic year. The cabinet of ministers approved a decision to this effect today.
Under the government decision, the probationary stage scholarship will be provided including for the 2021-2022 academic year, if the person carries out a probationary stage in similar conditions during 2021.
The scholarship will be worth 1,600 lei for resident physicians and pharmacists and 1,200 lei - for students. The pupils of the vocational education institutions will receive scholarships worth 1,000 lei each. The scholarship will be offered additionally to the traditional one paid for the academic years.
The term necessary for carrying out the probationary stage in the public medical and sanitary institutions involved in the control and combating of the COVID-19 infection is of three months for resident physicians and pharmacists, as well as for the students of the higher medical and pharmaceutical education institutions. As for the pupils admitted to the fifth academic year of the medical and pharmaceutical post-secondary vocational education and non-tertiary post-secondary education institutions, the term needed for carrying out the probationary stage is two months. The pupils of the 1-4 forms of the medical and pharmaceutical post-secondary vocational education and non-tertiary post-secondary education institutions, who are not involved in the probationary stage which precedes the graduation exams, can be employed, upon request, at the public medical and sanitary institutions involved in the control and combating of the COVID-19 infection, with the providing of probationary stage scholarship in similar conditions.
To enforce this government decision, financial resources amounting to 6,472,560 lei at the most will be necessary to be earmarked from the state budget till the 2020 budgetary year.
