National Prize of Moldova to be awardeed to physicians as well in 2020

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting of the Commission for Awarding the National Prize took place at the government today, the cabinet’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu proposed to the Commission members that additional prizes be provided to the medical sector.
The pandemic crisis put unprecedented pressure on the national public health system. More physicians proved examples of competence, devotion to their profession and self-denial.
Jointly with experts of the World Health Organization, Moldovan physicians created an efficient mechanism of identifying and treating infected people, got involved in the management of the epidemiological situation at all levels and carried out public information and education campaigns, meant to protect people and prevent the spread of the COVID-19 infection.
The Commission members backed a proposal by PM Chicu to provide several additional prizes to medical field’s representatives, as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
According to provisions by the Government Decision No 504/2018, the cabinet awards up to ten national prizes annually.
The needed financial means were identified, without increasing the budgetary financial expenditures to this end, at the expense of the spending for the organization of the National Prize Gala.
The Commission ruled that, this year, the recommendation letters and the files should be submitted concomitantly, exclusively in electronic format, to the email: [email protected] till 24 July, at 17:00.
