Moldovan PM discusses with Head of World Health Organization's Regional Office, UN Resident Coordinator

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today discussed with Head of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Office Igor Pokanevych and United Nations Resident Coordinator in Moldova Simon Springett. The focus of the discussion was the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Moldova and in the region, as well as the efficiency of the measures of preventing the spread of the infection, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic globally worries specialists and proves that educative public measures are necessary. The spread of the infection is triggered by the imprudent people’s public behavior, and to prevent the transmission of the disease, it is necessary that norms recommended by specialists epidemiologists be adopted at the level of the society.
The head of the WHO office pointed out a decrease in the number of confirmed infection cases and diminution of the infectiousness rate.
Igor Pokanevych and Simon Springett described as efficient the work of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry in combating the pandemic crisis and informed about willingness to further support the health system of Moldova. The officials highlighted the competence of Moldovan physicians and the way they do their job.
Ion Chicu thanked the World Health Organization and the United Nations Organization for the support provided to Moldova in the process of management of the epidemiological situation.
