Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Moldova has delivered eight thermal scanners worth 8,000 dollars to the General Inspectorate of Border Police (IGPF), within the Strengthening Moldova’s National Response to COVID-19 Crisis project.
According to the Border Police, the thermal scanners are indispensable instruments on this period, especially when some travel restrictions are or are going to be suspended.
Attending the event of receiving the thermal scanners, the IGPF deputy head, Valentin Fiodorov, said that the IOM Mission in Moldova was one of the principal partners on this period. ‘’In the context when some restrictions can be suspended at crossing the border, the flow of citizens will increase significantly and in these conditions, an efficient measure of monitoring the spread of COVID-19, at the same time, protecting the institution’s employees, is quite necessary,’’ Fiodorov noted.
Under the actions planned within the Strengthening Moldova’s National Response to COVID-19 Crisis project, IOM Moldova will further deliver products and apparatus of disinfection for ten border crossing points. At the same time, the organization will back the development, updating and dissemination of the operation procedures in line with the international standards for the Border Police employees who are in the first line. These procedures regard the detection, notification, isolation, management and informing the passengers who are potentially infected with coronavirus.
