Moldovan president makes appeal to parliament's opposition

Chisinau, 9 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today came up with an appeal to the parliament’s opposition, thereby urging it to de-block the parliament’s work, so that Prime Minister Ion Chicu presents its decisions on which the government took responsibility.  

„Today in parliament, a new attempt will be made for carrying out the necessary procedures, so that the money provided by the state reaches the physicians, pensioners, farmers and other categories of citizens. This is the fourth attempt made by the government; yet, as you know well, the parliamentary opposition blocks it. Some of this money could have already reached the people, if the opposition parties would not have opposed. I ruled to come up with the last appeal to you ahead of the voting: cease these political games and let the cabinet give the money to the physicians, pensioners, farmers,’’ Igor Dodon said.     

The head of state specified that, along with the colleagues from parliament and the ruling coalition, he would come up with solutions able to de-block the situation. ‘’You have the last chance today and if you have other realistic and constructive  proposals on how the citizens can be helped, we are ready to listen to them, discuss them; yet, first of all, prove that you work for the people, go to parliament and ensure the quorum.’’

The Moldovan president reiterated that the current parliament had discredited itself, was not representative and must be dissolved.
