Chisinau, 9 July /MOLDPRES/ - MP Stefan Gatcan has withdrawn his application on giving up the lawmaker mandate, submitted in early July. The head of the juridical commission for rules and immunities, Vasile Bolea, made statements to this effect in the parliament’s plenum.
According to Bolea, the draft decision on Gatcan’s resignation was withdrawn from the agenda of the plenary meeting, after the commission had received information on the withdrawal of the application by Gatcan.
In a posting on his official page, Stefan Gatcan said that his presence in parliament was needed, in order to avoid situations of instability and blockage.
„Even if I took decision to leave politics, I could not be indifferent when I saw what chaos appeared in parliament. Therefore, I took decision that my presence in parliament was necessary, at least as long as this helps the country not enter instability and blockage. Yet, I stick to the idea to leave politics, when my withdrawal will not have serious consequences on the people and country,’’ Gatcan said.
Socialist lawmaker Stefan Gatcan in early July informed that he was leaving the faction of the Party of Socialists and was joining the team of Pro Moldova. Afterwards, Gatcan submitted an application on giving up the MP mandate.
