Moldovan parliament to organize consultations with citvil society on amendments to Electoral Code

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s parliament on 14 July will organize consultations with the civil society on amendments made to the Electoral Code in the first reading on 9 July.

At the public consultations, the civil society’s representatives will be able to express their opinions on the amendments brought to the Contravention Code and code of media audiovisual services.

More experts in electoral systems said that the new provisions were good, while the others were dangerous for the democracy. The experts referred, here, to the provisions which shorten the voting time by two hours, from 14 to 12 hours.

Also, more experts voiced discontent with the fact that observers would no longer be able to monitor the electoral lists and will be able to start their work only with the beginning of the electoral campaign, without right to present reports.
