Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a phone conversation with the leader of the Transnistrian region, Vadim Krasnoselsky.

According to the presidential press service, the sides tackled details on the working agenda of a bilateral meeting, scheduled for late July.

A special subject of the dialogue was the issue of the temporary posts, set by the Transnistrian side along the Security Zone in late last March, as measures of combating the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the information provided by Tiraspol, 31 control posts were initially created. After the end of the emergency state, their number was cut to 16. At the same time, the Transnistrian side informs that, during the emergency state, the number of crossings of the so-called ‘’border’’ was, on average, of 3,000 people per day, which means thrice less than before the introduction of quarantine.

At the same time, the head of state highlighted Chisinau position of principle, which resides in the need to continue fulfilling the confidence building measures and the constructive dialogue, in order to re-establish the regime of free movement of the residents from the two banks of Dniester, which worked ahead of the introduction of the measures of quarantine triggered by the pandemic.

Igor Dodon said that, based on the agreements reached with Vadim Krasnoselsky, established by phone on 3 June, the Transnistrian side had relaxed the restrictive measures for the movement of citizens through a string of settlements under the jurisdiction of Moldova’s constitutional authorities. It is about the Varnita village, Anenii Noi district, Copanca village, Causeni district and more settlements of the Dubasari district (Pohrebea, Pârâta, Roghi, Vasilievca, Doroțcaia, Molovata Nouă, Cocieri).

Starting from 29 June, after the removal of restrictions to the movement of the residents from the Transnistrian region (up to 12 hours, with preliminary notification) and the entrance of other citizens into region, including for transiting (as of 1 July), the number of ‘’crossings’’ stood at about 12,000; therefore, we can speak about the gradual reestablishment of the indicators from before the quarantine period.

In the end of the discussion, Igor Dodon thanked Vadim Krasnoselsky for the constructive approach of the settlement of problems on movement, faced by the residents from both banks of Dniester. He voiced hope that all consequences emerged because of the coronavirus pandemic would soon overcome.
