Moldovan goods exports drop because of pandemic in last May

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - The coronavirus pandemic had negative effects on the trade exchanges of Moldova. The goods exports made in May 2020 were lower against the same period of the year before.
The National Statistics Bureau today informed that the exports of goods made in last May amounted to 155.7 million dollars, down by 26 per cent against May 2019.
According to data presented, the overall exports stood at 980.6 million dollars in the first six months of 2020, which is by 15.4 per cent less against the same period of 2019.
The exports of Moldovan goods amounted to 760.9 million dollars (77.6 per cent of all exports), down by 6.7 per cent against January-May 2019, which contributed to a decrease of the overall exports by 4.7 per cent. The re-exports of foreign goods amounted to 219.7 million dollars (22.4 per cent of all exports) or by 36 per cent less against January-May 2019.
The exports of goods meant for the European Union countries totaled 618.3 million dollars (by 14.2 per cent less against January-May 2019), having a share of 63 per cent of all exports (62.2 per cent in January-May 2019).
At the same time, the exports of goods to the Commonwealth of Independent States countries have a quota of 16.5 per cent (14.7 per cent in January-May 2019), which corresponds to a value of 161.6 million dollars. The goods exports from these countries decreased by 5.1 per cent against January-May 2019.
