Moldovan president chairs meeting on international transport

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today chaired a meeting with the members of the working group for the settlement of problems regarding the international transport, the presidential press service has reported.

Attending the discussions were a lawmaker of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Irina Lozovan, elected in the uninominal electoral district Ocnita and Donduseni, the head of the Association of International Carriers from Moldova, Silvia Vintu, as well as the heads of the transports companies from the country.    

The sides discussed a wide range of issues concerning the uninterrupted organization of the traffic of passengers and goods between Moldova and other countries. First of all, the interlocutors tackled the issue of getting permits issued by Russia’s competent authorities for the transit of goods from Moldova on the territory of Ukraine.

According to the information set forth at the meeting, presently, Moldovan carriers have about 1,800 permits which are valid staring from 1 July till 30 September 2020. The participants in the meeting formulated a request to make amendments to the regulations in the field and the code of roads transports from Moldova, in order to reduce the bureaucratic pressure on the companies which carry out transport activities.  

The head of state informed the participants in the meeting about the fact that, after the last June negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the special representative of the Russian president, Dmitry Kozak, the issue on providing permits had been solved. At the same time, Igor Dodon specified that this issue was under the control of Moldova’s top leadership and the problems emerging would be settled quickly.
