Premier meets EU Ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Peter Michalko. The two officials discussed the economic and epidemiological situation in Moldova and the region.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the PM highly appreciated the long-lasting support provided to Moldova by the partners from the European Union. In particular, the prime minister highlighted the importance of the assistance provided on the pandemic period. Just on 14 July, Moldova received the first consignment of medical equipment worth 2.8 million euros, provided by EU and the World Health Organization. The action is part of the EU’s humanitarian assistance for the Eastern Partnership member countries.
The PM reiterated the government’s intention to continue the measures needed for Moldova’s European integration and carrying out of the appropriate reforms. Ion Chicu expressed thanks for EU’s decision to disburse the second installment of the macro-financing assistance worth 30 million euros and praised the EU Ambassador’s contribution to this end.
The sides confirmed the importance to ensure a joint front for combating the spread of the COVID-19 infection and overcoming the economic crisis.
