Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/ - The faction of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPDA) filed a motion of censure against the cabinet of ministers led by Prime Minister Ion Chicu in parliament’s plenum today.
MP Alexandru Slusari read the text of the motion. He said that, in the conditions of the emergency state, the cabinet had obviously exceeded its constitutional powers, undermining the parliament, so that the parliamentary control is removed.
„The government took responsibility for several economic schemes, which were too far from the goals declared. We emphasize that this action of the cabinet was subsequently recognized as unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court,’’ Alexandru Slusari said.
The lawmakers of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) informed that they would support the motion.
Under the parliament’s regulation, the motion of censure, which expresses the withdrawal of the vote confidence given to the government at its swearing in office, can be initiated by at least one fourth of the number of the elected MPs. The motion is subjected to discussions on the first day of plenary meeting of the next week after date when the motion was submitted and is adopted with the votes of the majority of the lawmakers elected. If the motion of censure is turned down, the MPs who signed it will not be able to initiate a new motion for the same reason at the same parliamentary session.
